Role: AR Design
Duration: 1 month
Platform: Mobile App
Team: Solo Project
Tool: Unity, Figma
Overview
Khai-Káng is an augmented reality message board created by the Unity engine. This project discusses the connection between people in modern society.
Challenge
Create an immersive experience that encourages individual to share their emotions with strangers in a novel and meaningful way.
Inspired by guestbooks, everyone can leave their messages in the guestbook, and those who come later can read them. The messages convey emotions beyond words, creating connections with people. I decided to extend this form of communication to a different medium.
Final Design
01
Use the user’s current location to show the message board near them.
02
Information about current tourist spots.
Reflection
As a novice in Unity and C#, building prototypes with them was challenging. The process was intriguing as it allowed me to create a highly simulated environment for experimenting with my ideas.
In this design concept, I used geographic information to locate users. However, it might not be accurate indoors. Thus, I believe a Bluetooth Beacon, commonly used in indoor navigation, might offer a better solution, extending the design concept to the indoor environment.
